BIG QUESTION:

Many research websites that I came across had the same question. This question was does mental illness trigger homelessness? Or does homelessness trigger mental illness? This is more of a “what came first, the chicken or the egg” type of question considering that some of it is based on personal opinions. Judgmental people see the homeless more as being mentally ill strictly because they are so different from them. More sensitive people will believe that maybe these people had a rough life or a mental disability that sent them to the streets. I can not provide a direct answer for the question but I do know that the two go hand in hand. It doesn’t really matter which one triggered what. It does matter that there are an estimated 300,000 homeless people in Canada alone and it does not help that many of these 300,000 people have serious mental disabilities. These disabilities can range from mood disorders, eating disorders, psychosis, attention defecit disorders, self injury disorders and schizophrenia.
